Why Does No One Click On My Ads?

Written by Chewie on November 19, 2008 – 11:06 am

Have you found that you have the traffic, but no one will click on you ads? Why do some sites convert to adsense clicks and others do not? Its very simple. Those sites do not have either targeted ads or targeted visitors.

Lets put up a couple scenarios.

  • Scenario one. I build a site about making money online. However in none of my posts do you see the phrase make money online or anything related. None of my titles have make money online, and I just talk about how I earn money on the Internet in different ways, but never actually use any words which trigger ads for making money online. My question to you is, will people click other ads that may pop up like eBay or shopping ads? Why did they come to your site? It was to find information on making money online. If you don’t provide the keywords that trigger the relevant ads then how do you expect to make any money?
  • Scenario two. Lets say you build a site about making money blogging. You talk about tips and tricks related to blogging, and even use the right keywords regularly to trigger perfect ads, but no one is clicking. Oh, and did I mention that you also have adsense on the right sidebar below your latest posts? So you wonder why your CTR is only 2%. Maybe you should put it in a place that is right in the face of your reader? Or are you scared that your readers won’t like it? Are you writing to please your readers, or are you trying to make money online? Its your choice of course.
  • Scenario three. You build a blog, you target the right keywords within your posts, you have ads placed so they are the first thing people see when they come to your sight. You also have a good idea of what your ads which are triggered by the keywords in your posts will pay. You also know that there are multiple keywords you have specifically ranked for which all relate to the same niche. This is what brings you extremely relevant traffic to the majority of your posts. Bingo! You make money online. Then you do it all over again and again because you know how to make money online. And its easy!

Now you see why there is more to making money online with blogging than just building a blog and writing. Can you make a living doing it? Yes you can. I do every day, and I intend to for as long as the Internet is around. 1. The Monetizer Says:

Very good points in the three scenarios. I’ve been more prone to researching blog post titles recently in order to capitalize on search traffic and get higher paying ads. Also have been taking Adsense off the under or non-performing blogs.

  2. Informixx Says:

I agree. Targeted visitors and ads are needed for sure adsense clicks.

  3. Chewie Says:

Monetizer, that’s the way to do it. no use in leaving it be.

  4. Online Privateer @ Earn Income Online Says:

Targeted visitors not only click your ads, it also brings in a higher CPC because Google gives you the expensive high quality ads instead of the cheap crap that a non keyword targeted page would get.

If you are blogging for adsense, then it’s best to have a single post on your front page, that way you can be sure you get the cream of the ads for your topic. If you have ten posts, the adsense will be confused and give you slightly less valuable/relevant ads.

Hello…Interesting Points…So do you feel that people don’t usually look at an entire page so they are not necessarily seeing the ads unless they’re right in their face?

  7. Chewie Says:

Well Dan, its not that you won’t get some clicks, but here’s the bottom line. Do you build a site because you want people to enjoy the information, or do you build it to make money? If you build it to make money, then the place you put your ad has a drastic effect on the amount.

  8. Dan Says:

I got your point. I guess I just want a happy medium. Looking at short term and long term.

    Thanks for responding.
