Wordpress Blog Not Indexing?
Written by Chewie on August 10, 2009 – 6:48 amJust a quick post for you folks having problems with indexing and deindexing recently with Wordpress. Read on.
If you are having issues with your blog indexing only a title, and then going away you might want to first read this post over at Quick Online Tips.
Also if you haven’t noticed already on the new wordpress version you might have your Privacy settings ticked to block search engines. Be careful, and tick it to be visible to everyone like below otherwise you are not going to be listed in Google.

Thats it!

That “outta the box” WP locking out the search engines is something I recently discovered. I guess they did that so you don’t get the “hello world” post indexed if you set up and leave for a while.
I had a couple sites that would not get ranked and I finally discovered that “new” default. I am glad you are letting more folks know about it.
Some might start thinking that G doesn’t like them or something, LOL

Allyn,
I just found that yesterday and ticke dit off. Is there anything else we need to do ? Mine still won’t show up even if I search on the URL.

I just noticed that my site was set to block search engines as well. I distinctly remember opening it up a couple of years ago when I went to Wordpress, but a recent update may have set this.
Thanks for the info. I’m hopeful for Google indexing now (finally)…
